Having Christmas every week: The CSA box

South Central Farmer box I received in April
For a very long time, I searched for an affordable CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) group in Los Angeles.  For a semi-accurate list but see the LocalHarvest site.  But, I had some issues with traditional CSA programs:
1. I can not afford to spend $40 a week on fruit and veggies (no matter how organic and delicious)
2. I do not have the excess cash to spend $$$ six months ahead of time for these fruits and veggies

Then I discovered South Central Farmer's CSA box and my has become a foundation of my goals to being a healthier person.  For only $15 a week, you get a box of wonderful and diverse veggies.  It is mostly veggies, though I did get a watermelon and a melon in this week's box.  The selection varies and is completely seasonal.  Also, the history of the South Central Farm is very interesting and this non-profit is a cause worth supporting.  You can see more about it with their film The Garden.

And, they deliver all over the LA Area on many days a week.  You only have to go online and purchase a box 2 days before you want to pick it up!  Easy, cost-effective, and so yummy!  I encourage you all to try it.
